
Welcome to the Kids Page! This page has been designed especially for kids with the hope that you will take an interest in the way our government works. You need to be informed about what's going on and understand how democracy works.
You are the leaders of tomorrow and you have a responsibility to participate in government to make it work. Just because you can't vote yet doesn't mean you don't count. I serve ALL the people in House District 100 Mecklenburg County, including kids like you. I encourage you to contact me and let me know how you feel on issues and use your time in school to get a better understanding of how democracy works. The first successful airplane flight was made on December 17, 1903 at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina by the Wright brothers. University of North Carolina was the first public university in the United States. Krispy Kreme Doughnuts originated in Winston-Salem. Pepsi was invented in New Bern in 1898. Did you know that the NC State Beverage is Milk? FYI: Dairy products rank 9th among major farm commodities in North Carolina, with the state's dairy farmers producing some 135 million gallons of milk per year. The annual income from this production amounts to nearly $200 million. North Carolinians consume over 143 million gallons of milk every year. Got milk? Did you know that Mount Mitchell is the tallest mountain in the eastern United States? Did you know that Shaw University is the oldest Historically Black College? Shaw is in South Raleigh and was opened in 1835.
